Greg Smith Company Design/Build
Home Remodeling Process
Getting Started
Initial Meeting: coming to your home gives us a chance to meet, see your home and make initial suggestions about doing a feasibility study or moving directly to design
Design
Feasibility Study or Design Agreement: We agree on a fixed price for this phase of your project.
Design Concepts: We take measurements, look closely at your home and agree upon your vision and budget. We present concepts and cost ranges, then use your inputs to refine both concept and costs.
Finalizing the Design/Selection of Products and Materials: We prepare detailed drawings and plans and help you finalize your choices so we can give you the most accurate construction price.
Plans, Drawings and Specs/Construction Estimate: We prepare final plans, drawings, and specs and meet with any specialty trade contractors to pin down subcontracting costs. Small adjustments (like product selections) are made to get the final cost where you want it; a tentative schedule is set.
Construction
Contract and Price Guarantee: Once you sign these documents, we can begin work — and you have the peace of mind of knowing exactly what to expect regarding the project, schedule and the guaranteed price.
Permits and Scheduling: We pull permits and map out your project’s timeline.
Project Kick-off Meeting: You meet with our team and lead carpenter to discuss issues such as how to handle pets and where to store worksite materials.
Pre-Project Preparation: We advise you on how to prepare for a trouble-free remodel and our team installs protective flooring, dust barriers, etc.
Demolition/Construction: Work proceeds according to schedule and the worksite is cleaned daily.
Communication/Quality Control: daily meetings with your lead carpenter plus weekly quality control meetings with Greg Smith assure progress and craftsmanship and resolve any issues as they arise.
Building Inspections: We make sure that all required inspections are set up — and passed.
Substantial Completion to Completion: We conduct a walk-through with you, note anything to be resolved, and show you how to operate appliances, systems or other features.
Post Construction and Warranty
We stand behind our work long after we’ve finished your remodeling project, with walk-throughs at scheduled interviews to assure your satisfaction for six years after project completion.
